One Dose or Two: Pick Your ‘Shot of Hope’ at the Lancaster County Community Vaccination Center

Both Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson Vaccines Now Available Through June

LANCASTER, Pa. –  The Lancaster County Community Vaccination Center is now offering individuals two ongoing options for getting their COVID-19 vaccine – the two-dose Pfizer vaccine or the one-dose Janssen vaccine manufactured by Johnson & Johnson.

Both vaccines will be available at the center through its planned closure date of June 30. The expanded offering of the Janssen vaccine follows a successful special clinic held last Thursday, when more than 160 people opted for the single-dose shot.

“We now have the ability to secure an ongoing supply of both vaccines for our community,” said Dr. Michael Ripchinski, site director for the Lancaster County Community Vaccination Center and chief clinical officer with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, lead healthcare partner for the Vaccinate Lancaster Coalition. “Regardless of which vaccine you pick, what’s most important is that you get vaccinated.”

The Janssen vaccine is only available for those age 18 and older. The Pfizer vaccine is available for anyone age 12 and older.

Whether scheduling online, over the phone, or as a same-day walk-in appointment, individuals must select the vaccine brand of their choice – either “Janssen Vaccinate Lancaster” for the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot, or “Dose 1 Vaccinate Lancaster” for the first of the two-dose Pfizer shot.

To schedule an appointment, visit VaccinateLancaster.org, call 717-588-1020, or walk-in Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The vaccination center is located at the former Bon-Ton department store at Park City Center in Lancaster.

The Lancaster County Community Vaccination Center has administered nearly 220,000 COVID-19 vaccines since opening on March 10.
